“The tablet is the greatest storytelling platform since the campfire.”

“Everyone should get to bring his/her story to life on a tablet.”

Those are Jordan’s two favorite (and frequently repeated) mantras-and the inspiration for co-founding StoryDesk.

Jordan has spent most of his career telling stories in one form or another. First as an international journalist writing for publications like The New York Times, Men’s Journal, and The Economist. Then as a brand and innovation consultant-turning ideas into businesses for Fortune 500 companies.

Most recently, Jordan co-founded gliider, a travel research tool (acquired in 2011) that matches consumer-selected content with deals from around the web. gliider received numerous industry awards.

Jordan has spoken at a range of digital media and travel events, including PhoCusWright, ITB Berlin, The Economist Media Convergence Summit, and the Cornell University Center for Hospitality Research.

Outside of work, Jordan enjoys running marathons and travel, having visited nearly 70 countries.

BA, Sociology, University of Colorado at Boulder; MA, International Affairs, Columbia.

John Rasmus
VP Creative Development

I used to think magazines were the most useful and portable form of high-quality editorial and marketing information ever invented: Lightweight, great graphics, sharp photos, lots to read – something you love to spend time with.

I don’t think so anymore.

From now on, it’s the tablet. It has all those things – plus instant refresh, audio/video, web connectivity, social media, location services, and whatever comes next. And you don’t need to be a publisher to produce a great story and tell the world about it.

Most recently John was the Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Adventure magazine. Before Adventure, he was Editor of both Outside and Men’s Journal magazines, and editorial director of Chicago magazine. Under John, Adventure won won numerous National Magazine Awards, and its website at NationalGeographic.com anchored the society’s coverage of adventure sports, travel, and journalism.

John also led the launch of the first web-based rating system of adventure-related travel companies, “The Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth”, at NationalGeographic . com. In 2009 John was chosen for the Editorial and Design Hall of Fame by Media Industry News. B.S., Journalism, Boston University.
